Are there any restaurants nearby?

Since Villa Tortuga is in a very secluded and virgin paradise, unfortunately, here are no restaurants in the immediate area. The sleepy fishing village of Platanitos is about ½ hour away and has a couple of quaint restaurants. The most convenient way for you to maximize the enjoyment of your stay, is to plan on having most of your meals prepared at the house.

What about food and alcohol at the house?
There are three ways to handle this. The first way is stop by a market in Puerto Vallarta and stock up on all the food and alcohol you anticipate needing and bring it with you. There is a Mega Mercado on the right side of Highway 200 about 15 minutes outside of Puerto Vallarta if you choose to do this. It is about a 2 hour drive from that point so consider this when buying frozen foods like ice cream. The second option is to have the house provisioned. In this case you will give Gabriel a list of your food/alcohol needs at least two weeks prior to your arrival and you will arrive to a stocked house. The third way with respect to food only (not alcohol) is to have Gabriel arrange for our in-house cooks to prepare your meals for you. Each morning, except Sundays and Holidays they will come in prepare delicious healthy meals.

What about transportation in Mexico?
There are two ways to do this. The first way is to arrange a private shuttle through Gabriel, the property manager. They will pick you up and take you back to the airport. If you are not planning to drive around sightseeing, this is the way to go.
If you plan to explore the area and enjoy the freedom of having your own car, you can rent a car at the airport. Our experience has been that Hertz is much more difficult to rent a car in Mexico. Avis has been wonderful and can be booked online without problems. We do recommend you purchase the damage waiver rider.

What about linens and household supplies?
The linens are provided and are delightful upgraded 600 thread count Egyptian cotton. There is a wide selection of pillows in every bedroom, ranging from ultra-soft to firm. Plush towels such as Bath, hand, washcloths and beach towels are also provided for you. All paper goods such as paper towels, napkins, toilet paper are provided. High quality shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided in each bathroom shower, in environmentally-friendly wall mounted caddies. Additionally, organic hand-made, soaps in a variety of tropical fragrances are specially custom-made for Villa Tortuga by the finest producer of specialty soaps in Puerto Vallarta.

What about the kitchen?
The kitchen has all of the modern amenities, including a stainless steel refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, gas oven, small appliances, kitchen utensils, pots and pans, glassware, silverware and dinnerware.

What about telephone and internet?
WhatsApp, FaceTime, and Skype can be used through the Internet. There is wireless broadband internet connection provided by satellite available on the lower level of the house. You should be able to receive email and surf the web. However, this could be intermittent. You will not be able to download large files such as movies due to the satellite provider’s “fair use” policy. With respect to cell phones, as this is a secluded area your cell phone connection will likely not work in the house. You can, however, frequently pick up a signal near the beach and elsewhere nearby.
