Turtle Camp near Villa Tortuga
The Government operated Sea Turtle Conservation camp is located only 200 yards from the Villa.
Its prime objective is to patrol the beach and harvest eggs of Olive Ridley Sea Turtles, which arrive every year between July and December to construct their nests, to ensure their safe incubation within the camp protected hatchery.
The visitors are welcome to join in the efforts to safeguard the species and participate in the release of the hatchlings during the sunset hours.
The operation of the camp is sponsored in part by property owners and developers of Playa Las Tortugas.
